Turn a Tin Can into Something Interesting
By Shalhevet Reinman-Adler & Ilan Adler This is a simple DIY project that can both recycle a tin can that would ordinarily just be thrown away, and make it into a really cool looking pencil holder or mini advertising column. It can be made in under 15 minutes, and the only thing needed is glue and photos/pictures.
Step 1 – Find an empty can
Find an empty can, and clean it.
Step 2 – Plan How To Place Your Photos & Glue Them On
Plan ahead so that you get the best placement possible for your photos. We decided to turn this can into an homage to NYC street art, with a bunch of photos that we took 2 years ago at the Graffiti Hall of Fame, and at the world famous 5Pointz in Queens. There is also one photo from the La Boca neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We used photos that were developed, but you obviously can use anything you print, or newspapers/magazines; which will also make it much easier to glue on.
We used this specially made photo glue to paste the photos.
Step 3 – Cover the Can & Make Sure The Photos are Glued on
It’s important that all the photos are pressed down, so that they will remain on and not fall off in the future. Let it air dry for 15-20 minutes, and then you will have a really cool mini-advertising column. You can also get a few small magnets and turn it not only into a holder for pens, but also a place to place notes or additional photos on. We placed Phillip the mouse on ours. This is a great little project, perfect for all ages. You can turn it into anything you think of, whether family photos, cool designs, or photos of celebs you like.
